IQ London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Examination (LCCI)
London Chamber of Commerce and Industry provides worldwide known exams and tests for learners of Business English language.
Most foreign universities and companies recognise LCCI exams because they prove the language skills of candidates who act at managerial / administrative positions in such business area as Accounting and Finance, IT, Marketing, Legal, Banking, Consulting, Secretarial, Travel and Tourism.
“A passport to employment” in these areas is delivered when passing two basic exams:
A) English for Business (EFB) exam has 4 levels.
Level 1
It checks your use various forms of correspondence (a report, letter, memo, note) and understand written business texts, interpret and process data in documents, graphs and tabels and use basic business language in practice.
It has the Written and Oral Parts.
Level 2
It is a “managerial level” often compared to the FCE examination. A candidate should be able to fluently communicate in English to well perform his managerial duties, express opinions, criticise, discuss, etc.
The Written Part takes 2,5 hours
The Oral Part (not obligatory, recorded) takes ca 13 minutes.
Level 3
Called a “top managerial level” checks a candidate’s very high language qualifications. The exam is often compared to CAE exam. The exam assesses the candidate’s fluency in using different business expressions, his ability to distinguish formalities of situations and understanding of words and expressions specific for various work environment.
The Written Part lasts for 3 hours.
The Oral Part (if requested by an employer or university) is recorded.
Level 4
Requires the ability to speak English “like a native speaker does”, that is, to demonstrate full language competence in an English speaking work environment. A candidate should demonstrate the highest standards of style, fluency, wording, understanding of business literature, business discussions and distinguish different language formalities.
The Written Part
It lasts for 3 hours (4 questions)
The Oral Part
It lasts 15 minutes and is recorded. Realized on demand of an employer or university.
B) Spoken English for Industry and Commerce (SEFIC) is a practical oral exam “on demand” consisting of 4 levels and assessing your skill of speaking English in various professional situations.
During 25 – 45 minutes conversation with an examiner, a candidate proves his ability to speak on general subjects, descrive photos, discuss, present and play some role using business English language covering expressions related to economy, trade, transport, media, politics, etc.
